Alaska Black Cod --also known as Sablefish-- with its velvety, rich flavor and delicate texture recalls its other name - Butterfish. Black cod prime cuts are still very rich but are milder in flavor to our skin-on black cod portions which are taken from the bigger fish in the catch. Many customers consider the flavor profile of the Black cod prime cuts to be a cross between our true cod and skin-on black cod portions because it still is a very rich fish but is milder to the larger black cod we use for the skin-on portions. to Black cod prime cuts will be 8 to 16 strips per pound and will be skinless & boneless. Each strip will weigh 1 to 2 ounces each.
